Ancient Minimalism

The monasteries of the Armenian Apostolic Church hint that minimalism might be more ancient than modern. Peaking through the rolling hills of the Caucasus, these 13th century monasteries stand solely in volcanic tuff stone. Embellishments are carvings, not ornate materials, and colors are camouflaged. This simplicity reflects theological doctrine and depicts historical narrative.
